Our Closing Film for the year is a Thai movie that has created waves with its strong theme and powerful performances, and been to several festivals around the world.
Mindfulness and Murder is based on the popular 'Father Ananda' detective series written by Bangkok-based American writer Nick Wilgus.
A homeless boy dies in a monastery and no one seems concerned, except Father Ananda, an ex policeman-turned-monk. He begins to make inquiries, travels the canals of the country to seek the truth, and is shocked to learn that all is not holy within his monastery.
The engrossing story takes one through familiar scenarios in Bangkok and lifts the lid on many important issues. Its exciting cast includes rapper Way Prinya of Thaititanium as a junior monk, Kaew Charina Sirisinha of Zaza as a newspaper reporter, veteran actor Jaran Petcharoen, and former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova in a cameo appearance.
The edgy, controversial story not only earned it a public release in Bangkok, but was also nominated for five National Awards. It was screened in festivals as varied as Italy, Iran, India, and the US.
We are happy that the well-known Director of the film Tom Waller and lead actor Vithaya Pansringham, who have both done many international productions, will attend the screening and will take questions after the film.
Tom Waller has produced international films like The Elephant King, Soi Cowboy. This is his debut Thai production.

Vithaya Pansringham has acted in well-known international films like Hangover 2, Largo Winch 2, and most recently Only God Forgives by Cannes Best Director winner Nicolas Refn, which was shot in Bangkok.

To celebrate this important Thai film and its cast, as well as herald our year-ending movie, Thailand's well-known Village Farm Winery will provide their exclusive Chateau des Brumes wines.

Don't miss an unforgettable movie, in our Contemporary World Film Series- the last film of this year.
