Calling all fans of photography: Winners from this year’s Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand/OnAsia Photojournalism Contest will be announced this Friday at a special ceremony at the FCCT Clubhouse in Bangkok.
Every year, the FCCT and its partners (including OnAsia, the region’s premier photo agency) spotlight the best in photography from across the region. This year, the judges reviewed more than 5,000 images from over a dozen countries, including Thailand, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Mongolia. The shots chronicled the good – and the bad – of living in Asia, from the plight of stateless peoples in Myanmar, the latest political unrest in Thailand, the 2009 elections in Indonesia. The judges selected winners in four categories: Spot news, feature photography, refugees and migrants (a special category sponsored by the International Organization for Migration) and photo essay. In addition, the judges chose one Photographer of the Year – the contest’s top prize – for the strongest body of work from a single photographer.
Winners will be announced in a special ceremony on Friday, Dec. 4 attended by many of Asia’s top journalists, followed by a public unveiling of the photos.
