This is a simple and moving story of Thelma, from a poor urban family, who is hired by a local foster care facility to provide a temporary home for abandoned babies until they are formally adopted.
The abandoned baby in this case is the adorable John-John, whom Thelma lovingly feeds, bathes, and takes to school on her last day with him, before he is adopted by a wealthy American family.
The first part of the film captures the urban chaos of Manila, as Thelma navigates the busy streets of the city chatting with everyone she sees, exhibiting her warm and caring nature. Then she goes home, and finishes all of John-John's chores, before she goes to the luxury hotel, to leave him with his new American family.
The diverse scenarios and tones almost divide the film into two halves. The happy, cheerful caring Thelma is broken when she's separated from her foster child.
